The Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) was founded in 2006 and has offices in Washington D.C., Berlin, Amman, Nairobi and Paris in addition to its headquarters in London. As a think tank, the ISD is dedicated to combating disinformation, polarization and extremism. The resulting research is strongly data-driven and characterized by real-time identification of digital manipulation, disinformation or hate speech. In the ITS Digital Analysis Unit, for example, this technology was used to track and document the spread of right-wing extremism and fake news on the climate crisis. In addition to other activities such as policy advice at municipal, national and international level, the Institute is also working to connect civil society actors and is establishing networks such as the Strong Cities Network, in which over 150 cities are now working together.
